What is a Cleared ID?
A Cleared ID is a contractor's identity on Cleared — their business details, licence, insurance and required information in one place, kept current. It's free for the contractor, permanent, and can be shown to any builder using Cleared.
What does CLEARED mean?
CLEARED means Cleared has reviewed the contractor's applicable items against a stated set of requirements as of the date shown. It is a review outcome, not legal advice, a guarantee, or a substitute for a builder's own legal obligations.
Is Cleared free for subcontractors?
Yes, always. A contractor never pays to hold or maintain their Cleared ID.
What does the builder have to do?
Invite the contractor by mobile number, then see their status. Cleared reviews what's submitted and keeps it current — the builder doesn't run the workflow.
Can a contractor use one Cleared ID with more than one builder?
Yes. Each builder sees the same contractor's status evaluated against their own requirements, so it can read differently from one crew to another.
Do invitations count toward my limit?
No. Only active contractors count toward your plan limit. Invitations don't.
What happens when I reach my limit?
You'll be prompted to upgrade or archive a contractor before inviting more.
What happens when a document expires?
The contractor is reminded before expiry. If it lapses, their status updates so you see it.
What does Cleared check?
ABN and business details, NSW contractor licence, white card, public liability insurance, workers compensation where required, and a signed declaration. Cleared only asks for what's relevant to the contractor.
Which states does Cleared cover?
NSW today. Register checks are against NSW government registers.
Can I archive contractors?
Yes. Archived contractors are kept but stop counting toward your limit.
Is Cleared a replacement for my legal or WHS responsibilities?
No. Cleared is a workflow and verification platform. It doesn't replace a builder's own legal or work health and safety obligations.
