Terms of Service

Version 1.0 · Effective 30 July 2026

These terms govern your use of Cleared. By using Cleared — as a builder managing subcontractors, or as a tradie completing an invite — you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.

What Cleared does

Cleared helps builders onboard and verify subcontractors. A builder sends a tradie a secure link; the tradie completes a short profile and uploads their insurance and, where relevant, workers compensation certificates; and Cleared checks their details against official registers, tracks expiry dates, and sends renewal reminders.

Verification is a point-in-time check, not a guarantee

Where possible, Cleared checks details against sources such as the Australian Business Register and government licence registers. These checks reflect what those registers show at the time of the check. Registers can be out of date, and a status can change after a check. Cleared confirms what the records say — it does not guarantee a subcontractor's licensing, insurance, workmanship, conduct, or suitability, and it is not a substitute for a builder's own due diligence.

The tradie declaration

A tradie confirms that the information and documents they provide are true, current, and their own. Cleared relies on that declaration. Providing false or misleading information, or documents that are not genuine or not yours, is a misuse of the service and may result in removal. Uploaded documents are checked to help flag ones that don't look genuine, but automated checks are a guide only.

The builder makes the final decision

Cleared surfaces information and flags issues to help a builder decide. Whether to engage, clear, or continue to work with a subcontractor is always the builder's decision and responsibility. A "cleared" status in Cleared reflects that the requested checks passed and current documents are on file — it is a tool to support the builder's judgement, not a certification by Cleared and not a transfer of the builder's legal obligations.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Cleared honestly and lawfully. In particular, you agree not to:

  • provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information or documents;
  • upload anyone else's documents without authority, or documents that aren't genuine;
  • use the service to access information about people or businesses you have no legitimate reason to;
  • attempt to break, overload, scrape, or gain unauthorised access to the service; or
  • use Cleared for any purpose other than legitimate subcontractor onboarding and compliance.

Availability

We work to keep Cleared available and accurate, but we provide the service "as is" and can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, change, or suspend features from time to time. To the extent permitted by law, Cleared is not liable for losses arising from reliance on verification results, register data, or availability of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

Your information

How we handle personal information and documents is set out in our Privacy Policy. Data is stored in Australia and is only shared with builders a tradie approves.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version number and effective date at the top of this page will change when we do.
